yeah... the below bolded and italic words are the reply he sent to me. Quite expensive if I must say so. Thought price quoted was due to lack of members joining in, but it seems not the case since so many people joining in this thread... lol

Hi,

Thank you for your interest in learning Kendo. Yes, Kendo is Japanese fencing. As for the time being, we were having a break and have yet to start the training yet. There is no training fee, but we gonna pay for the lease of the venue for training. Each person will cost RM 124, per month.
And the only thing which you need to buy is the shinai (bamboo sword), which cost around USD 30-50, depending on the quality. I would suggest you guys how and where to shop for the shinai during our first training. So, dont worry about that just yet.

What I need from you right now is your name your mobile phone number and email (If you are really interested to join us). Then I would constantly contact you for the upcoming activities or announcements.

Thank you.

Hi, perhaps you should check if the dojo (and hence the sensei) is affliated with the Malaysian Kendo Association. Just a suggestion. BTW, You can get your equipment from sites such as http://www.kendoshop.com or http://www.ebogu.com
