My dilemma: EOS 550D or D5100?

why not compare d5100 with 600d instead?

after owning a nikon for a while, frankly now i feel like having a canon instead.

been to shashinki.com, but it's always good to get views from you guys who got the 'hands on'...

it depends lo. if you have number of friends playing this slr thingy might as well follow what brand they uses, so that u can share using the lenses later. otherwise if just for your personal use, i'd still recommend better go for nikon.

i'm thinking hard of changing to canon, cos of its 50mmf1.2 autofocus lens - which nikon doesn't have. but i love the dual SD card feature of my current d7k...so a bit of small conflict here.

but u might want to google over dpreview.com and cameralabs.com and make your final decision after that.

other ppl might have more constructive ideas than me, let's see what they have got to say.

I'm the Canon 550d owner, this camera good for video quality but i have try use nikon D90 for a week to comparison which one is good. So far compare better take Nikon brand than canon. Now my canon 550d already sold to my friends and take Nikon D7000.

My opinion and do not caught me wrong ooooooo.... ^^:-

Canon = User friendly
Nikon = Not so friendly

Canon EOS 550D and 600D and Nikon D5100 = beginner DSLR.

Plus another few $$$, go for Canon EOS 60D or Nikon D7000 = semi pro DSLR.

I just bought EOS 60D, very satisfied with the performance and the user friendly. After all, most of my friends are using Canon and like wad the MC net friends say, it is all depends on urself to choose. All camera are goods, but depends on ur budget and ur needs.

Maybe if you have time, just go through YOUTUBE and see the review.. ^^

get used dslr..normally u get complete package like battgrip,filter,bag,tripod n sometimes flash..extra money buy extra lens or accessories..i just bought used 50D..if many ur fren used canon,then follow d crowd..then mcnet photography tt

I believe D5100 also doesnt have an in-built motor like the D3100

cannon eos550D. i love this one.

Been with me for 1 year. and i love the quality it produces.
Go to old man road there, got 1 old camera shop, i think beside the shoes shop.
The tauke very nice ppl, will teach u all u need to know about camera.

i bought mine there.

What about sony slt-a55, 100% got AF in body, 10fps, very fast focus in live view compare to others. i doubt 550D have in built focus motor, it's kit lens confirm got.

there is no better camera already at this time...

the best is to choose something that you feel more comfortable holding, has the lens/accessories you will want to own at your budget and more importantly(at least for me), good resale value...

but that said... here is my honest opinion:
Go Canon: Just to become a family/casual/beginner photographer.
Go Nikon: if you are serious about photography or wants to get serious with it as a hobby/putting (extra)food on the table.

just my 2 cents...
