They're attracted to something that's why either you have food thrown out in your compound/drain or you have rats around.
Knowing what's right and wrong doesn't make a difference, what makes a difference is doing the right thing.

my neighbours' cats keep coming to my house, staring at my live chicken and fish. After i got myself 2 dogs, they never come. Only strolling around in my neighbour's compound.
