Bleak payrolls report mauls Wall Street, volume thin

NEW YORK - US stocks tumbled on Thursday, driving the S&P 500 down to its third-straight weekly loss, as a steeper-than-expected slide in June non-farm payrolls revived caution about economic recovery prospects.

News that US employers shed nearly half a million jobs last month and the unemployment rate jumped to 9.5 per cent, the highest in nearly 26 years, dampened recent hopes that the recession might be abating.

Investors pummelled stocks across the board, but energy, industrials, financials, technology and consumer-oriented shares were among the hardest-hit sectors.

These sectors were at the forefront of the broader market's recent recovery from the 12-year closing lows of early March as investors bet that the worst of the economic slump was over.

All told, the jobs data served as a reality check and signalled that any recovery will not be smooth sailing, analysts said.

The Dow Jones industrial average dropped 223.32 points, or 2.63 per cent, to 8,280.74. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index slid 26.91 points, or 2.91 per cent, to 896.42. The Nasdaq Composite Index sank 49.20 points, or 2.67 per cent, to 1,796.52.

//this is the final sequence to this entry. this outing will not be successful if it was not for my comrades. thanks, guys. it was my biggest outing so far, and also my first ever trip to Kuantan.
covering this event and event like this is never an easy experience. it was tough. for this event and this entry or this; the lighting got me into real problems. the constant change of lights and colors tricked my camera's meter. plus it was held in a hotel ballroom which mean i couldn't use my flash to bounce. so in the end i just keep my eyes on interesting subjects and snaps several frames of them. it's normal when we get underexposure and overexposure, as long as we don't miss that crucial moments. back then i was thinking what if i shoot with films using my Nikon FM2, will i get lots of good shots in such low-light setting like this event?

Based on the title, I’m very sad and embarrass to say that because Miri had became a City which I’m no longer used with. Crime and Car stealer are getting more and more serious nowadays. My car parked at Pelita Commercial Centre during Wednesday night had been broken in by someone. It was using some sort of tools that caused BIG damages to my back right hand side window. When I approached to my car after having some supper with friends, I only saw an opened window with loads of messy papers around inside. I was literally shock and impressed with the technique he used to open my window. My whole window pieces of apparatus were all damaged and the whole glass is now gone. When I unlocked and on the light of my car, everything was really messed up. Papers, Discs, car stickers were all over the floor and all the car drawers were opened.

The only thing still remain steady is the angkong of Alex the lion that I bought from Toy R Us are still hanging on my car mirror. Luckily, they did not steal any of the items in my car. Even the RM1 in my drawer are still there. And my Pioneer is still there as well. I felt so surprise with this first time experience and I still can jokes around that time without showing any emotional facial expression.

I did not manage to capture any evidence from the scene with my cell phone. Anyway, I will upload the photo when I receive the photo file from my friend soon.

Until the day today, I still wondering what is the reason my car been chosen instead of the Mercedes beside me. And I am the most lucky person because I’m the car been picked out of so many cars. Sigh about it. Hope the servicing tomorrow will not clean my wallet. I'm very broke lately.

Gtg first for sleep now (2.20am).

Columbia Asia Medical Centre has started a new clinic next to the main building. It is directly above Dr. Roland Mattu Clinic. It is opened to the public. So anyone can go there. They started their business at 7:00AM. I believe the majority of customers are from SSB. The afternoon is for appointment only.
The apple green colour is very pleasing to the eye. However, the flat panel TV on the wall needs tuning.
Two friendly staff are always there to serve you...
This is the entrance at the first floor. It gave you an immediate "clean" look
